Biography
Ahmed El Nemr is a Professor at the Department of Marine Pollution, National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF), Egypt, where he has been since 1988. From 2014 to 2016 he was the director of NIOF. During 1991-1997 he was a researcher at the Microbial Chemistry Research Foundation, Japan. He received his BSc and MSc in Chemistry from Alexandria University. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering in applied chemistry from Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, Japan in 1997. He became a full professor in Marine Pollution in 2009. His primary research interests are in the field of organic chemistry, environmental monitoring and wastewater treatment. El Nemr is the author and editor of 10 scientific books in organic chemistry, oil spill, water treatment, marine pollution and climate change.
Research Area
His research interests is devoted to synthetic methodologies in carbohydrate chemistry and the modification of natural polymers. Isolation of natural compound from marine source as corrosion inhibitors. Preparation of new activated carbon for industrial wastewater treatment. Study the levels, distribution and risk assessment of petroleum hydrocarbon, pesticides, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls and heavy metals in the marine environment.
